perinatal mental health supportWe offer maternal mental health and emotional wellbeing support, advice and information to women, birthing people and their families in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. As mothers who have lived experience of depression, anxiety and isolation during pregnancy or after the birth of one or more of our babies, we understand how hard early parenthood can feel and how difficult it can be to ask for help.
Our Services

Mothers for Mothers are delighted to have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This prestigious award is the highest recognition possible for VCSE groups in the UK. It recognises the dedication, commitment and passion of all of the women and birthing people with a lived experience of maternal mental illness, who have generously given their time, skills and compassion to support others. We are so proud that our wonderful team have been honoured in this way. It is very emotional to think about all the families that they have supported over 40 years. The women and birthing people who we walk alongside on their journey to recovery are the inspiration for all that we do. This honours their bravery.

Everyone at #MothersForMothers is absolutely thrilled to announce that Bryony Strachan has joined us as #Chair of our #Trustee Board.
Bryony has a wealth of experience that will support her leadership of our organisation in the coming years.
Since 2019 Bryony has been the Obstetric Lead for Perinatal Mental Health at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol. Her previous role was as Clinical Chair for The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and St Michael’s from 2013 -2019 . She has also held National roles working with the @royalcollegeobsandgynae and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) on guideline development and with @nhsengland to develop pathways in postnatal care.
Her expertise and experience working for the benefit for women with perinatal mental health will be a huge value to our community.

Huge thanks go to @bristolwomensvoice and @thebeautyofcaring_cic At todays Staple Hill group, mums were able to take part in a social beauty workshop. Natacha offers beauty workshops in groups where participants discover and learn about various beauty treatments (manicure, facial, self-massage, makeup) and wellbeing tips in a caring and friendly atmosphere. What a wonderful way to start the week. Thank you! 💜

As Mother’s Day approaches, everyone at @mothers_for_mothers are thinking of all those who nurture.
Mother`s Day can be difficult for so many, for many different reasons.
For Mothers grieving a baby, child, adult child; those grieving for their own Mothers, those who have difficult family relationships or no relationships; those who long to be Mothers; those who have chosen not to be Mothers; those who nurture in many ways but who are not called Mother. We are thinking of you all.
We are also thinking especially of all those new Mothers we have met since last Mother’s Day who have allowed us to share this time with them.
Thank you to all those who have supported us and our aim to Mother the Mothers.

💜Have you ever thought about joining an event to raise money for @mothers_for_mothers?💜
This is exactly what Katelyn, pictured, did when she decided to run in the Bristol 10k in May as a way to remain fit & healthy after having her daughter and to prove to her that you can do anything you set your mind to!
After deciding on her challenge Katelyn, from Weston-super-Mare, decided to give back to say thank you for the support she received.
She says “Mothers for Mothers is a charity close to my heart. I hadn’t experienced the feelings I did after having my daughter before. All the hormones and emotions were incredibly strong but the team on the helpline validated my feelings and made me realise I wasn’t alone. For that I will always be grateful.
“I would encourage anyone thinking about taking part in the 10k or any other event to consider raising money for this incredible charity. You will feel supported, encouraged and most of all valued in whatever you are doing!”
